Clubview Estate
The mission is to ensure that we can live in a safe, secure, and protected family-oriented community by becoming self-sufficient.
The suggested plan
The unique geographical layout of our area positions us well to transform it into a secure, gated community, offering significant benefits to both current homeowners and the neighbourhood. With rising crime levels and limited safe spaces for children and families to enjoy the outdoors, it's time to seriously consider a community-driven effort to create a boomed-off estate.
This initiative will not only drastically reduce crime but also increase property values, fostering an environment where children can ride their bikes safely, enjoy self-managed parks, and families can walk together without the threat of criminal activity.
The purpose of this site is to unite the community behind this vision and keep everyone informed as we move forward. This is a long-term project, and more details will be shared as we progress.
Immediate Next Steps
The following steps are the immediate actions required to get this initiative off the ground:
Step 1:
Gather feedback from residents to gauge support for the initiative.
Step 2:
Establish a governing body to oversee and manage the process.
Step 3:
Engage consultants to assess costs, requirements, and the necessary steps to secure approvals from the local council.
Step 4:
Provide feedback to the community on the results of the consultation and officially begin the process of creating a boomed-off area.
The proposed boom-off area
We intend to close the entrance at the corner of Wattle and Birch roads, adjacent to the Caltex garage and Kameeldoring Avenue. This will create a secure area for the community with limited access to our neighbourhood. Since these roads primarily cater to residents, we do not expect major disruptions to local traffic flow.
Additionally, we plan to erect a fence along old JHB, where the expansive open field is located, transforming it into a pleasant park for residents to enjoy with their children. Who knows, we might even establish a lively cricket or rugby league in the area!
About Me
I'm Riaan Backer, a proud South African eager to enhance our wonderful country. We have recently settled in Poplar Drive and are enjoying the neighbourhood. I recognise the potential in the boom-off area and wish to facilitate this process as much as I can to foster a better environment for all my neighbours. I do this voluntarily, dedicating my spare time to the best of my ability. I would greatly appreciate your cooperation and support in creating a safe and welcoming neighbourhood for everyone. I look forward to your encouragement and, hopefully, to seeing a boom-off area soon.
